We work with those who live openly and out; and those who have more conservative and private lifestyles. We use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including holistic, person-centered, collaborative, empowerment-focused, trauma-informed, IFS, DBT, and EMDR. We welcome people of every ability, age, gender, national origin, race/ethnicity, religious affiliation, and sexual orientation, and we cultivate space for conversations that de/reconstruct whiteness, and cultivate positive racial and intersectional identities. People seek therapy for many reasons, including: a deeper understanding of identity or sexuality; difficulty adjusting to relationship difficulties or traumatic experiences; anxiety and/or depression; sexual functioning issues; compulsive thoughts or behavior; and/or changes in relationship structure or power dynamic. Most people decide to work with my practice because of my specialized training and experience, or because they feel more comfortable speaking to a therapist with first-hand knowledge of alternative identities and lifestyles.
Often, we can get stuck in our daily grind of rise, rinse, repeat, daydreaming about what could be different, and yet feel paralyzed by uncertainty. “Feel the fear and do it anyway” might fall flat because how does one get to the point where they can identify what they are feeling is fear and trust in themselves and others to hold space for them along that journey? What this mean is, I integrate many of the well-known evidenced based practice modalities and theories, EMDR, as well as wellness and yoga principles (e.g. breathing, mindfulness, focus attention, awareness, etc.) within the framework of integrative social work and psychodynamic psychotherapy.

TriBeCa Therapy is a center for psychotherapy that was founded on the assumption that human beings are original, imaginative, inspired, and inventive. We particularly love our work with young adults and college students and are connected to issues they deal with. Issues related to sex and dating, drugs and drinking, depression and anxiety and academic pressures aren’t topics that will freak us out. We can handle it. College students frequently discuss with us challenges such as: making friends in ways that don’t involve alcohol, making friends as a person of color, navigating social situations that demand connecting with strangers (like in the cafeteria) and finding “their people.” We work to create a partnership that takes these challenges on together, trying new strategies, taking increasingly bigger risks and dealing with the disappointments and celebrating the successes that follow. College is a time when many young adults are dealing with very adults issues like sex, sexual assault, eating disorders, substance abuse, managing money, race, class, and career choices.
