Therapists for college students near 78741
Hi! My name is Michelle and I have a passion for working with women in the perinatal population, children, and athletes to improve their mental sport performance game! Navigating college and adulthood can be challenging and overwhelming! There is a lot to juggle and sometimes it can feel like a lot or you have to manage it alone. School or being an athlete can feel like a full time job. So it’s okay if you need someone to talk to, someone who’s been there and gets it. Because you don’t have to handle everything by yourself.
(Also accepting Baylor Scott and White) You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or questioning your identity. Maybe you’re tired of repeating the same patterns or just trying to hold it all together. I work with people facing addiction, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, life transitions, LGBTQ+ concerns, and relational issues. You're searching for clarity, peace, or just a space where you're heard. If you’re ready to move forward—even if you’re not sure how—I’ll meet you where you are. You don’t have to do this alone. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 5 years of experience. My goal is to walk with you—through the highs and lows, setbacks and growth. My work is rooted in your values and perspective. I don’t give quick fixes or cookie-cutter advice. Instead, I offer grounded support to help you explore, reflect, and move toward meaningful change. You're not broken. You're human—and you're not alone. Therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating. It can be empowering. I offer a judgment-free space where your thoughts, feelings, and values are welcomed and explored. I am a board certified psychiatrist and provide combined psychotherapy and medication treatment. My patients are typically looking for therapy to address concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. They are also often looking for support with evidence-based medication treatment. I listen carefully to understand the difficulties that bring someone to treatment and to understand their goals. I am collaborative in my approach. I approach psychotherapy from a psychodynamic perspective, where the goal is to increase understanding and insight into thoughts, feelings, and behavior. When we can understand ourselves better, we can then change patterns that may be getting in our way. This type of therapy can often lead to lasting change. Please note that because my practice is telehealth only, I do not prescribe controlled substances (for example, stimulants for ADHD or medications such as Xanax or Ativan for anxiety).
Feel like you can't control worry? Or that you lose yourself in relationships? Perhaps you feel disconnected and loney? It doesn't have to stay that way, and you don't have to go it alone. Ready to get to the root of your struggles and experience lasting change? I specialize in working with young adults and college students who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship issues...or all of the above. I strive to be a solid support system for my clients and care about you immensely. And I go beyond just talk therapy with EMDR, the gold-standard treatment for trauma and anxiety.

I have a master's degree in family psychology and I am a licensed professional counselor supervisor in the state of Texas. I have had experience working with families, children, teens and adults individually in a variety of settings; community mental health, schools and home-based treatment for over 17 years. I have the most experience working with depression, anxiety, family/relationship conflicts, parenting issues, life transitions, and trauma/abuse. I also have experience working with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mild autism. I use a person-centered and integrative approach in treatment. This means I begin where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs while being sensitive to how your individual cultural identities and lifestyle choices impact your experience. I would describe my style as warm and supportive, and I am ready to help you tackle your struggle head-on. Collaboration and consistency are important - together we can work on establishing goals and steps for you to help overcome your current problems. At the heart of my practice lies a commitment to person-centered care. I am guided by evidence-based practices, ensuring that our journey is grounded in approaches backed by research and proven effectiveness. Your path towards mental wellness is unique, and it deserves a tailored approach that resonates with your individual needs and experiences. While therapy modalities play a crucial role in addressing underlying issues and fostering resilience, I also understand that for some, medication can be an essential tool in managing symptoms and restoring balance. Specializing in depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma and PTSD, grief, coping skills, and eating disorder, I tailor treatment plans that integrate therapy and medication management, ensuring a holistic approach to mental well-being. Together, we navigate the complexities of the mind, empowering you to cultivate inner strength and resilience on your path towards healing.
I view my role as a therapist much like that of a guide as well as a teacher. I work to help clients build and maintain the necessary tools they already have existing within themselves and lead clients to new discoveries of living life in a more balanced way. Through utilizing existing tools, as well as learning new possibilities of living, clients are able to reach their full potential for prolonged success. The foundational approaches I choose to work from are person centered, and mindfulness based. I also utilize experiential forms of therapy. I specialize in working with life transitions, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse/addiction, spiritual identity, and helping to develop coping mechanisms/tools to reduce stress. I work with both men and women, young adults, and adults. Finding the right counselor can be a difficult process. I want to make sure we are going to be a good fit and that's why I offer a free 15min initial phone consultation. I look forward to working with you.

I’m an LPC with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and 2 years of clinical experience in both nonprofit and private practice settings. I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, borderline personality disorder (BPD), bipolar disorder, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change on their own, overwhelmed by emotions, or unsure how to move forward in relationships or in life. My approach is eclectic and personalized, drawing from CBT, DBT, humanistic, gestalt, existential, and narrative therapy. I believe in unconditional positive regard, autonomy, and transparency—clients are the experts of their own lives, and my role is to help guide and support meaningful, lasting change in a way that fits who they are. In our first session, we complete a biopsychosocial assessment, talk through your goals, and make space for any questions you have about therapy. From there, we collaborate on a plan that feels comfortable and supportive, gradually exploring your history and patterns while building toward practical, forward-focused growth.

To me, therapy is about meeting you where you are at. We can 'sit in the suck' and commiserate but from there we will build up! This is a collaborative relationship; we are colleagues working towards the same goal. I won’t try to impress you with fancy medical jargon or bore you with a lecture. I am a simple person with humble beginnings. I started my career in healthcare at 17 years old as a CNA (Certified nursing assistant) working nights at a tiny rural hospital. I moved into the Chicago suburbs to continue my education but maintained my CNA certificate by working afternoons and nights at a long-term care facility. I graduated with my Master’s in Social work in 2016 from Aurora University. During my initial years as a social worker I worked in mental health case management and hospice. Two years later I received my Licensed Clinical Social Work for the state of Illinois. Not even a month later in 2019 I moved to North Texas where it took me several more year of training before I received my clinical licensure for Texas. During that time I took several different positions to gain a better understanding of all the kinds of work a social worker is capable of. Those positions were intensive outpatient for mental health and addictions, intake, utilization review for a psychiatric hospital and home health. After gaining clinical licensure in Texas, I concentrated my focus to one on one telehealth with adults while they navigate difficult life changes. When I am not working I enjoy cooking, hiking, competing in dog sports, and tending to my plants and home with my spouse, 7 dogs, and one very old rabbit. I volunteer with the local animal shelter working with animals at risk of euthanasia due to behavior issues or medical concerns and in rescue rehabilitating struggling pets. As a clinician I use aspects of cognitive behavior therapy and dialectical behavior therapy and am considered person centered. I regularly provide handouts, suggest videos, or give homework to encourage therapeutic thought and action outside of our sessions. I look forward to meeting you and being part of the healing chapter of your story!
